"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

Hi mate!
The cartridge case (it's not a bullet but the casing that holds the propellant) is a standard 7,92 x 57 mm case that was used widely by the German forces in their rifles and machine guns. This model of cartridge is often called the "8 mm Mauser", you can find lots of information on it online! The markings tell us the following:
aux = manufacturer's code for Polte Armaturen und Maschinenfabrik A.G., Werk Magdeburg, Sachsen
S* = the material of the case, this code is for brass alloy with 72% copper
33 = lot number
40 = 1940, the year of manufacture
Hopefully this helped a bit, welcome to the forum as well!
