Steve, my mate Cyril was a mechanic in the RAF during the war, he introduced me to his friend last night. His friend was an armorer with the RAF, he informed me that the best way of telling the difference between the different types of heads is to look at the colour of the driving band. I told him that these heads had been in the ground for 65 or so years, no sign of any colour left. He looked at the head and said that he could tell by the weight that it was solid shot. I am also looking forward to seeing an original RAF armorer's handbook
Regards, Simon.
