    saved this from destruction a manager at my work took it in and was going to cut it in bits and destroy it, hoping this isint fake as I saved it and kept it, many stamps on it, I think one has 1869, and theres engraved wording on the side ill need to still take pics of, apparently its french

    Its a French chassepot bayonet. It looks like it was chrome plated.
    You will find the arsenal and the date on the spine of the blade.

    As pointed out it's been plated, which may indicate it was used as a parade bayonet or for a guard of honour. Nice find, only a philistine would cut up any type of antique.

    they make nice "wall hangers" for decoration around the house, den , fireplace, bar , man cave.
