That's correct. It is a S84/98 type 2 which was made in 1917, the last year during ww1 that S84/98 were made. It was manufactured with a saw back but this has been removed probably also during 1917 when the order went out to removed them from the S98/05 bayonets as well. The blade is nickel plated that suggests it was not military contract but private purchase, but does have an accountability number of some sort. May have been the walking out side arm of some State employee.
A bit pitted but fairly rare maker and an interesting piece.

S84/98nA, removed sawback, maker is Velbert, question is the blade is nickeled? that is hard to say from pictures, it could be only polished and well preserved, there is inventory number, which normally should be on scabbard too.

No other markings can be found, then the one's I gave.
Could it be that this model have been made originaly without sawback...?

Offcoarse not, there was a sawback which was late 1917 or in beginn of 1918 removed. on backspine of blade near crossguard could be inspector stamp, or on pommel, unfortunally there is heavy rust, so probably not real to find there something.

If there is no "W" "17" stamped on blade spine near crossguard, then it's private purchase or State authority purchased. The blade is obviously nickel plated. The slight dip in the top edge of the blade shows it once had a saw back.

    Yes there is!
    A crowned W 17.
    I didnt see it first.
While checking the spine for grinding marks it appeared to me.
    Thanks for your help.
