S98 Sawback Bayonet

Hello Gents,

I have acquired a S98 Sawback Bayonet.But I dont have the scabbard,does anyone know where I could buy one ? And what type of scabbard fits this model, I know there are several types of scabbards models.

Nice Sawtooth 1898!!
Not a version I have in my collection,
But looking at these, I am seeing that both the leather type with metal throat and toe and also the all metal type of scabbard were used for this one.

As a 1906 example it would have had a leather scabbard, these often didn't survive, and very hard to find. This is actually a Bavarian example, royal cypher for King Otto who reigned to 1913. I understand the steel scabbards were introduced in 1913.

Same opinion a nice bavarian proofed S98nAS, should be with leather scabbard fitted, the second picture by AZphil looks like wrong yugoslavian frog on them.

You can look for a leather sheath and an auxiliary sheath made of sheet metal from the WW1.

I haven't seen one of your Bayonet's in years,So finding a scabbard will take some time.
