It is price with shipment.
On past year of my "observations", I sow when 3 similar item was sold:
- in medium condition was sold for ~300 GBP but in the UK.
- some other in "great condition" was sold more than 1100 EUR.
- and someone in normal condition blade but without "REG.PAT. GERMANY" mark and little crack on the plastic handle for around ~700 EUR.
Also, I periodically sow when collectors from my country bought replicas SG-42 for ~200-400 EUR.
So I decided for myself: like not perfect condition but original and rare AR-10 with correct marks mach more "preferable" then two replics of SG-42...
As I know, original SG-42 usually is sold for 3500 - 5000 EUR.
It's too expensive for me.
You are correct that a real little higher price for a normal piece is better as 2x copies of S42, anyway a late production S42 is overpriced with 3500, this would be real only for the early production piece. problem are by some collectors that will pay for similar pieces unreal prices, then is problem found a normal price.
I assume the second modell of S42 was obtained nearly by 10000 pcs, this is comparable with AR10 production around 6000? pcs reported as max when both type of pommels we confirm as separate. Anyway this is not a WW2 piece and the combat using of these knives are only partly confirmed.
