    Hi!
I find strange dress ks98 bayonet recently.
Diller present it like "Third Reich period KS98 bayonet" with Motto of the SS on Dutch: "mijn eer heet trouw" for Dutch.
    - "my honor is called faithfulness".
It's blade has not manufacturers mark...

As I know ks98 blades of this type realy very untipical and rare.
On my opinion it is real authentic bayonet...
And it's seems very strange if someone decided add acid etched motif on rare modification of ks98 in postwar times.
So I think realy may be two most likely options:
    - or bayonet and acid etched motif - postwar repro
    - or bayonet and acid etched motif - both authentical...

So is it rarity or fake ?
    How do you think?

The entire thing is fake my friend. The bayonet is post WW2 made and the etching...equally bad,

This type of blade was found on WW1 Extra KS98 pieces, the etch and completation could be realised later or as mentioned are problematic, i believe the handle is a early Eickhorn one made from non magnetic brass alloy probably.

The button mortice lock betrays this as a reproduction. The length of the button is a key giveaway with these repros, it's too long compared with a genuine KS98. The second giveaway is the other end, the mortice key. On a repro KS98, like this one, the key is loosely fitted with a larger gap around the "key". In a genuine KS98 the fitting around the mortice key is tight, and barely visible at some angles. It was polished and ground during manufacture to make the fit perfect.

Compare my Puma example (right) with the OP's example. Note the rounded edges to the mortice key. The repro are not machined to as high as standard as the originals.
