Hello, I was given this bayonet a few months ago. Any ideas as to what it is for?
It is marked with what appears to be a joined 'CE' with 'WG' beneath on the blade and on the hilt 'F' beneath a crown.

It fits the Austrian Steyr model 95 rifle and carbine.

Actually it looks to be the Austrian M1888 bayonet for the Mannlicher rifle. It has the adjusting screw on the muzzle-ring.
It could be an 1886 model.Should still fit the M95 I think.

Nuh, it's the M1888. Muzzle ring adjustment screw + cutting edge down = M1888
The MRD for the M1888 is 16.5 mm while the ring required for the M1895 Mannlicher rifle will only be the 15mm.
It could possibly be a M1886 but for that it would need the MRD to be even larger at 17.5 mm.
If Grimebox will give us an accurate measurement of the muzzle ring diameter we can tell him what it is.

The muzzle ring diameter is 16.5mm, so I take it is for the M1888?!
Many thanks
Interesting is that this is not a austrian army piece, probably a unknown export, it would be probably nice to examine the R crown marking on guard.
