Article about: Received this interesting a few days ago. Inside I read a size 7 1/2, TTO, 2/194 (where the last number is probably missing). On the edge is written in two places, something I cannot deciphe

I think its TTC, for Teddy Toy Company Ltd, the name looks to be F.T. Griffiths.
I've not seen a liner crown pad like that before.

I have seen a couple of examples of a similar but not identical fibre disc used as a crown pad on British helmets refurbished by the Netherlands after WW2. I am not suggesting there is a direct connection! I don't recall now whether the complete liners were Dutch or whether the fibre disc was the only difference.

This seems to be a reissued MkI of WWI vintage. A so called MkI*. Considering the shape of of the flared rim. Shorter in the rear and broader sideways.
The used colours, nor the liner, nor the strap seem Dutch to me. The round cork piece may be a make shift repair.
Cheers,
Emile
