'late to this one...I don't come here as often as I used to.........isnt that an NFS oval Fire Force Transfer "shadow" on the brim...under the NFS star badge?...NFS usually put their service numbers on the inner rim too. 'pretty sure the NFS guys who went overseas didn't camouflage. This seems to be a post-NFS camo'd lid...admittedly quite a long time ago....sorry for jumping in...
Could it have been an NFS helmet reissued to the Home Guard? Can't think of any other way a Home Fronter would end up with a coat of camouflage paint.
