    Hello everyone,
I've been a long time lurker but a newbie to the art of collectible war memorabilia.
I picked up this helmet that looks like it's a WW2 British mk II. On the strap lugs its stamped 1942 and above that the mark II. The int. liner has the letters CCL below that the numbers 11, the year 1945 and the size 7 1/4. What confuses me is that I can't find the makers mark for the steel lid itself. I don't know if the sand and brown paint application has cover it but I've looked everywhere. Did the British leave the stamp off on some or is this a reissue from another common wealth country? Any thoughts? Thanks.
    Regards: John

This looks like a perfectly sound WW2 British MkII. The colour is very UK. There should be a makers stamp in the steel. Probably overpainted by thick brown layer.

    Nice helmet.

    Cheers,

    Hi,
A nice mid war MkII with the correct paint. The makers stamp & date are sometimes hidden by thick paint or even under the chin strap lug.
