Looks a good cap but the size of the pics make it hard to date but it might be pre WWII with the green underside to the peak, but the label, from what I can see, looks post war. Nice cap either way and one I would happily add to my collection. I have to admit that I don't know if this pattern of cap was ever worn by this regiment and I am assuming that this has already been established?

Jerry
Whatever its just an opinion.
I wonder if it dates from before they were formed with the amalgamation in 1993 of the 17th/21st Lancers and the 16th/5th Queens Royal Lancers as the QRL wear a similar cap but with a red body and black piping whilst I think the 17th/21st used to wear black & white as their colours. So probably post war and pre 1993.

it is a 17/21 lancers No 1 dress cap
it looks to have a nato stock number in it and a metric size so i would say 1970s era
and info for BOND it is not a cap badge
it is known as a MOTTO
as in death or glory i was in this regiment for 9 years
cheers ian
ok thanks , Jerry!
Missed that thread, thanks for pointing that out!

The 17/21 lancers seem very touchy at the fact it is a Motto!
I have noticed before!
