Default WW2 fake Britsh Para beret ?

Hi folks, I've just bought this British paratrooper beret from an auction site which stated it was WW2 and with the photos supplied it looked good to me but now I've had it through the post it seems to be too small to be genuine. Definitely too small for a adult. I wasn't planning on wearing it so I didn't even think to ask about the size. It's all flat, out of shape so measuring was difficult but the diameter of the black headband is around 7". From the photos supplied is it an obvious fake to the more experienced collectors?

I can't be sure but there seems to be evidence of the pocket that was designed to hold the slider on post war berets. We really need to see more pictures of the inside. If in doubt return it. Your instinct is flagging up concerns I would trust it!

As Mark stated, you really need to show more of the interior, but to my eyes it does not look correct

    Hi Mark,
    Thanks for the comment.
The pocket type thing behind the cap badge argh.. In the photo supplied the seller is holding it down with his thumb so it's not so obvious. So if it has that type of design it's a post war beret. Thanks for the info. Does the size not bother you ? Reading their terms and conditions I don't think I can return it terms and conditions state ''there is no right of return, unless an item is materially different to its catalogue description'' They might of covered their ass's with the way they've worded the description ... Boooo

Don't no about English Militaria butch age bought German stuff from auction which was fake and wasn't able to return it as they clearly stated no authentication was given which is the case on most German stuff in auction

Well if they claimed it was WW2, in terms of economic value it IS materially different.

I would try. Be firm and concrete with your facts. Tell them that it is materially different from their description. If that fails tell them you will take them to court or file a claim.

I will definitely try. Bought it from the Saleroom which list items from Auctioneers from all over the world. Some good items do come up but also plenty of fakes. https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/a...e-a83201054127

The problem is many auction houses do not have "real" specialists in militaria. Often they are general valuers and have only a very basic grasp of the subject.
