Sand coloured Dennison smock

I acquired this smock circa 1992 from collector-seller Leo Karlin, who in turn had been told it was formerly owned by Rhodesian Colonel Dudley Coventry. The buttons and zipper are marked Newey. There had been a tag on the inside, but it is washed out. The pockets are vertically oriented, not on a slant. Would these sand-colored smocks have been produced in Rhodesia or South Africa?

No not made in Rhodesia. Every man and his dog loves to state that para smocks were made somewhere in Rhodesia and yet no proof has ever been offered. The Rhodesians never used them and just used their standard combat jackets. A photo or two of a Rhodesian wearing one means nothing imo.
