    Hi Tim, Nylon replaced silk during the war. Bear in mind that silk came mainly from the Far East and so silk production was denied to the Allies due to the Japanese sucesses there.

    Aaaahh.. I see... thanks Ade... I had no idea and have simply assumed that all chutes manufactured during the war were silk.. and also assumed that once the supply lines were cut in the far east American manufactured.... thanks for clearing that up for me
