RAC (Royal Armoured Corps) crash helmet as worn in tanks and AFV’s early in the war
Sunday Pictorial from November 1942
Poems from the Desert. This small book is dated 1944, however, the poems were written about the North Africa campaign
A couple of images of a relative who was in North Africa
A “home front” woolly hat / cap comforter (at least I don’t think it was issued)
Brilliant set of photos Grimebox
A series of maps of Anglo-Egyptian-Sudan dating from the mid thirties to the early forties. They are printed on Egyptian cotton and have interesting annotations about the terrain
Another type of British goggles that were seen in desert
I forgot that I also have the second pattern crash helmet, as used in armoured fighting vehicles early in the war. Unfortunately it’s packed away at the moment, I’ll have to get it out at some point and put it on a mannequin.
