Ya I think your right about it being a Spanish War Veterans Medal
And a Knights of Columbus sword perhaps?

I thought that at first. I have my Dad's, but looking closer at the pic, it has two rings on the scabbard. KofC do not. They have a Frog lug sticking out by the throat. It kind of looks like the frog lug on a K98 bayonet scabbard. That is how it attaches to the KofC Sash they wear.

Neil,
I went through all the National Guard and also State award ribbons and the closest I found was from Alabama with the color(Dark) on left and white on the right side of the ribbon. They only show ribbons not the medal hang from it. They don't even list New jersey in the State Defense awards....
I also took a look at masoinc swords since Anderson mentioned it.
Those do have 2 rings on the scabbard.
I also looked at Freemason awards and didn't see a color/shade combo that would match the shades on the ribbon and the actual medal handing from it.

Thank you for all the responses. Neil
The (probably) early blues uniform is badged for a Sergeant, whereas, in the later greens image, he is a corporal..
Surely a Marine would never do anything to get himself busted, Phil (!)
Might this suggest the uniforms belonged to different men?
Or perhaps the blues were the Corporal’s from his service as national guardsman or reservist?
A peculiar mix, to be sure..
Bob
I don’t see chevrons on the service coat but the fella in khakis has sergeant stripes.
I still don’t know what to make of these!
I agree with 08 on the rank.
Marine Corps uses dark stripes where the Army uses the lighter color for the stripes for their rank chevrons.
