Named WWII Navy uniform

I got this navy uniform a few weeks ago in western Pennsylvania. It has a seamens stripe on the shoulder, and a naval gunners mate patch on the Sleeve. The name Wm. J (I think) Donnelly is written on the makers tag. It also has his rank. I'm not quite sure how to find this guy, as William Donnelly is a somewhat common name for back then.

Nice uniform, I would try ancestry/fold3 they have the navy muster rolls from WW2 and other eras. While the name is common the rolls list names - service numbers - rating and more which would help in filtering down the results.
