WW2 1945 British Jungle Greens

A nice, large size Royal Artillery slouch hat. Dated 1942 and a size 7 1/8. It’s not in bad condition considering it’s age and it still has its chin strap, but it looks like a mouse has had a nibble around the edge of the leather sweat band. It has an interesting modification that I have not seen before whereby the top peaks of the hat have been sewn together. I’m not quite sure why this was done other than style.
Unfortunate my mannequin is a little inaccessible at the moment and there’s not a lot of sunlight so I haven’t managed to take any good pictures of it in situ.

A 1945 dated Millbank bag. These were issued for use to filter dirty water

An Indian made khaki cotton bag, believed to be for personal effects or dirty linen. The bag is marked and dated 1944 (clearer to the naked eye).

A lightweight khaki cotton neck scarf in KD material. These were worn to protect the neck from the sun and used as a sweat rag. This belonged to a British officer, C.E.Rawlings, who was in the RIASC & IAOC.

A very well worn Bush shirt. This shirt is more repairs and darning than original shirt! The collar has repeatedly been mended and has been sewn down at the back. The pleats at the back have also been sewn up and it is possible that it has been taken up at the bottom as it has a hand stitched hem. Unfortunately it is without buttons.
I believe that this was Indian made, however, it is unmarked except for a small stamp under the collar. I’m not sure what this stamp signifies, although I have seen Chinese marks in similar places on other shirts and believe that they are laundry marks

I’ve not picked up anything Far Eastern for a little while, however, I got lucky at a local auction and managed to get seven 1943 dated paper maps of Burma for a decent price

An example of why I can never become a militaria dealer. I bought these pair of mosquito boots to sell on, however, when they turned up they were in excellent condition and different colour to the ones I already had, hence I’m keeping them.
They are made by John White and dated 1944 (unfortunately marked on the inner sole and I can’t get a decent picture). They are size 8 and have nice clear stamps and retain their draw cord at the top of the boot. The photos don’t really do them justice, the suede is in really good condition and is a bright khaki colour, as opposed to the other pair that I have that are more green in colour.

I have just inherited two military kukris. I saw them many years ago and they were attached to a piece of plywood. They were brought back from the Far East by my uncles uncle, John Addy. At the time I thought they were “tourist” type kukris which were brought back by a lot of servicemen post war, however, having removed them from the board I found that the blades are marked M41 and that they have clearly been used. One of the scabbards also has an ink mark on it which looks like a “C” the war arrow and a “5”. It’s interesting to note that the handles are different. Unfortunately, for reasons my uncle couldn’t explain, in the 1980’s he coated them in wood varnish!!!
