This is a rare piece, a ‘44 pattern jungle hat dated 1945. It was manufactured by J Collett and is a fairly large size at 7 5/8. I initially thought that it was unissued due to the condition, however, in hand it is clear that the outside has faded to more of a khaki green whilst the inside is more of a jungle green

Our man is shown here later in the war wearing his jungle hat, which replaced the much loved slouch hat. He has been issued with a Lee Enfield No.4 rifle which has replaced his old SMLE. He’s travelling light with just a water bottle to keep him hydrated in the hot climate.

Nice jungle hat. He's got that semi emaciated look of the Burma veteran. But you need to do something for his gammy arm.

I got a few Indian produced bits for Christmas. First up is an Indian made duffle bag. It’s dated 1943 (although not very clear on the photo). I think the service serial number is for someone in the Engineers.

Indian manufactured battledress blouse. This is unstamped (or more likely, the stamps have worn away), however, it is of the typical Indian construction and made of the incredible course and scratchy wool. It clearly have shoulder badges at some point but these have been removed. It is shown with the Indian manufactured trousers that I have.

1943 dated, Indian manufactured MT (Motor Transport) lightweight overalls. Sometimes, incorrectly, referred to as summer or lightweight tank suit.
These were worn in North Africa and Italy as well as the Far East. They were worn by crews of Armoured Fighting Vehicles as well as general maintenance duty.
These overalls appear to be unissued and are a good size.

I have shown him with his Enfield .38 No2 Mk1* in his pocket (I need to get the correct holster, but they’re a small fortune) and a Sten Mk3 for protection when dismounted from his AFV.

He also wears issue sunglasses and MT goggles, with clear lenses and yellow lenses and is shown with an RAC crash helmet - these were issued early in the war and I don’t know if they made it to the Far East

A 1943 dated, Australian produced jumper. I don’t think that these were specific to a certain theatre of war, however, it is often forgotten that jumpers, and warm clothing, were worn in the Far East

1944 dated Canadian manufactured “jungle” (?) shorts.
These shorts are Canadian produced and definitely green, although I wonder if they were dyed KD shorts that have faded. The Canadians served in the Far East although not in the same numbers as Europe. I’m not sure if these are specific to Canadians or a “lend lease” type item.

I believe this to be an Indian manufactured enamel mug, possibly dated 1941, however the last digit is difficult to decipher on the very feint stamp

An unusual little piece. A field made Captains jungle green wristlet. It has a button which is of the typical Indian style of manufacture.
These were worn to denote the rank but were less obvious than the other rank badges (thus less likely to make you a target for a sniper)
