Default Unknown medal - do not know country of origin

I've had this for some time and have never been able to identify it. I'm not sure if it is military, but it is very detailed.

It is a copper (looking) medal with a blue, white, and green ribbon. I'm unfamiliar with the construct of it; the fastening of the medal and ribbon is foreign to me. If anyone knows what this is, that would be great!

I do think you are right. I will have to look into that. I will update if I receive further information.

I am sure now that it is a family crest.
This crest has the flowers prevalent in the one above:

I think it is more a College or University IMO. With the cinquefoils gules, Cornish choughs and chevron.

Is it the fact that all these elements are together, and that is is a medal, that suggest it is from a college/university?

Perhaps one of the numerous designs given for participants in walking events (see also volkswanderung)? A few examples below.

It is the config of it that makes me think that.
Do a search on University crest and I think they will be closer than a family one.
