US Navy Purple Heart grouping

just got back from my local antique mall and picked up this grouping...I don't have a Purple Heart in my collection and this grouping looked interesting. includes a rank insignia, front layer of the award box peeled off and a typed note...can't speak to the provenance but everything looks period to me....I will definitely dive into the personal story side and research but I am just sharing with the group in case anyone has any added insight....thanks for looking

thanks !.....it seems his ship which was a minesweeper and was hit by Japanese shore guns and he was the only fatality on his ship....found a pic and some stats, seems that Fess Parker served on that ship
