Thomas Harold Brand served during the Great War , he enlisted in Nottingham on 28th September 1914, he was 26 yrs and 57 days and with service number 17441 served with the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was in France with the British Expeditionary Force twice between 14th August 1915 and 25th November 1915, (then served at home) and 19th June 1916 to 27th September 1918. On 27th September 1918 he received a gun shot wound to his left side and face, he was returned to England and discharged from the army on 29th August 1919, his discharged address was 9 Bestwood Terrace, Bulwell. He married his wife Jane Marshall at St Georges Church, Nottingham on 7th August 1911 and went on to have a son Harold born 17th April 1912. He died in Nottingham in 1967 aged 78 yrs.
