17th/21st Queen Royal Lancers motto
Hello all,
I would please like some opinions on this motto i found. Is there any chance this is a cap badge from ww1/ww2 era?
There are many variants out there and i feel like i'm overloaded with fakes and new ones. There is a saying here in dutch, I no longer see the trees through the forest. Well that's what happend for me here..
Is there any way to tell from what time period a motto cap badge is?
The ones i found from dealers are somewhat qeustionable.. Both in terms of the dealer himself or the motto...
You see them with different back attachments. Different material used and many variants of design.
The pin is obviously a replacement, but the emblem seems to have some age.
Thank you for any info or opinions.
Best regards,
Dos

This is the other backing and material that i meant:

I do not think it is an original, as far as I am aware they never made a bronze motto. Also the nose looks terrible imo.

Whatever
its just an opinion.

Thanks for the reply Jerry, Appreciate it.
I thought i read somewhere that the bronze ones were older versions. I hope i can someday find a good motto!

Thanks Stuka f,
I was convinced i found all the threads that were made on these..
Adrian his post:
"The Motto": 17th/21st Lancers cap badge
And two posts from CBH:
17th/ 21st Lancers Motto's
Mottos 17th Lancers
Are these the ones you mean?
There is little information other then reference photo's and a mention of a variant with "ears" thats supposed to be WW1 era.

There must be more.
I'll try to find them later on, have to go now.

I am happy to be corrected about bronze versions if you find some genuine examples

Jerry

I should add the seller of the motto that started this thread is known for selling items with weak provenance as originals, ie, not originals
