British (?) Patch; Lion & Crossed Kris & Scimitar

Another of the items in a recent purchase.

I post it here simply out of ignorance as to the national origin; it looks British to me.

The lion faces left, somewhat uncommon in my limited experience.

The crossed swords suggest either Middle East or South-east Asia...Malaya, perhaps?

Any ideas, Gents...Nation, Unit, Era?

Not British.

The construction of the patch is certainly American in origin.

Not a British lion IMHO and as Ade mentions not typically British in construction either.

Just to throw my two cents in, I would suggest that it is a dragon rather than a lion, sort of ties in with the Asian theme.
