Testing methods are a great tool to help but I think it takes years of experience, touch and feel, knowledge of the materials used and the good old brain to be sure.

Yes, if exposed to some detergents it will glow. However in my experience the quality/degree of the glow is different from a man made fiber patch. I still have faith in the black light test.
