I eventually found my UK stars amongst the general junk pile.

As you can see from the label on the box which is RAOC (Royal Army Ordnance Corps now part of the Royal Logistic Corps aka RLC) Standard Primary Packaging (they would originally be wrapped in brown paper inside the box) these date from the late '70s but as far as I am aware they have not changed.
Some of the wing nuts have a '1' and others have '2' marked on one ear but this seems irrelevant as they are identical.

The metal plates were issued through the stores system but also they were very often made in the local unit workshops which was a lot quicker in many case! If anyone can provide the Stanag dimensions (I can't find the Stanag) that would be really helpful.

As promised here are a couple of pics;License plate general stars ...?License plate general stars ...?License plate general stars ...?License plate general stars ...?
