Get some military patch books that describe types of embroidery... most types 'fully envelope' the base material -and you will not see the base material, front or back. Only when the embroidered patch is cut from the roll of the base material, will you see the color of the base material on the edges.
Your patch is Korean War up to 1968 vintage. Gov't specs on how patches are made changed in 1968 to include a merrowed edge. For yours to be of WWII vintage, you would see khaki or OD base material at the edges... yours is black.

well thanks for all the help guys im really bummed out its not WWII looks like its time to return this im so upset i was so excited to finally get one
