Question about British 5-Year War Service Chevrons

My question is simple: would it have been possible for such 5-year war service chevrons to have been worn before the end of WW2?

I have studied quite a lot of original photos taken in the summer of 1944 in Normandy and, whereas 4-year war service chevrons crop up from time to time, I have never spotted a single five-year one on period BD blouses, hence my question.
