Thank you for your reply, Brig. Very good news about the aircrew badge.
I have just looked at the Meyer's hallmark on the badge. The Surname Meyer is horizontal, New York is vertical. The shild is not flat and looks to me like a shield on Great Seal of the United States. I post here a picture, which is quite unclear. I will try better picture with digital camera and macro objective, but not today.
