WW2 Canadian Red Cross POW Pin. Anyone know anything about these?

So I thought I would show my WW2? Canadian Red Cross POW Pin. I have not had much luck finding information about these, there seems to be very little history on them. I have seen 2 other examples (emedals and ebay) for sale but haven't had luck with them beyond that. It is marked Birks Ellis who was the supplier of pins for the Canadian Red Cross from 1914 to the 1950's and the Birks Ellis mark was used from 1936-1953. If anyone has any more information on this interesting badge please share.
