I’ve been looking at this Bergen, is it a genuine WW2 ruck?
Of the examples I’ve seen they seem to have leather attachments for the shoulder straps rather than the canvas here.

Sorry I know nothing about these except that I think they look great.
I only have some Ww2 german rucks,but was looking at this on Australian Ebay lately.
I think the Ebay one has the features you describe.

I think it could be but the pictures are so poor it is hard to tell. It seems to be missing the sewn on straps that are used to attach the Universal (Bren Gun) Pouches and also it should have long straps attached above the side pockets.
I have 3 and all the harness attachments are leather but their do seem to be a few varieties...........
The pics aren't very good but I would say it is a US Army mountain rucksack with frame. I would have to dig mine out to compare.

I think I have made up my mind that it is a correct British Bergen but missing the straps as mentioned above.
