Questions on British officers' gear on D-Day
Hello,
As photographs depicting British officers in the early hours of the D-Day landings are, to say the least, rather scarce, I would like to ask experts on here whether they think that items such as the lifebelt or the lightweight respirator would have been worn together with full officer's sets by officers landing on Gold and Sword beaches with the first assault waves. The general opinion on the subject seems to be that the higher the rank of the officer, the lighter his gear was, though.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Didier
