Unusual Metal Box 1944?

Hello everyone
I have had this box for a while and can't figure out what it is or what it is for. It is quite small only about 18cm by 8.5cm. Looks like it's dated October of 1944. Any ideas, suggestions, comments are greatly appreciated.

me too, but I was thinking medical? shame the first word has been chipped off!

Must have been chipped off for quite a while, the person I bought it from didn't even know what that first word was. Must have been a shorter word or abbreviation of some sort because there is not much space on the label.

I tried a search for J.T. & S Ltd. but it was too hard for me! but that's the clue.

I can't seem to find anything about it. My guess is it would have been a smaller more compact version of something like this.

This is the closest thing to it that I could find so it may be a less common variation to some kind of medical pill box. Just an idea.
