Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
I don't speak Russian, but since these have the German translations underneath, I can give you an English translation of those.
(With a double translation from one language to another and from that one to yet another again there is of course always the danger of something getting lost, but since these are rather simple texts, it shouldn't be too big a problem here.)
First one:
"Confirmation
is given to Mr. Benning Friedrich Oscar, who has been released from the POW camp and who is referred to his permanent place of residence.
Head of the POW camp
[signature]"
Second one:
"NKO-SSSR Unit
Field Post No. 61948
Date: 23 Oct. 1945
[seal]
The former prisoner of war Bening Friedrich Oscar, born 1925, has been dismissed from the POW camp and is underway to his permanent place of residence in the town of Altburg, Germany
[signature]
Red Army Troop Leader
Field Post No. 61948"
Many thanks Andreas

Hi,
Thanks for your informations. My grandfather was also jailed in Russia, during 6 years and finally released the 13 of December 1949. As in your document, Paul E., he was in field post/camp 61'948. Does anyone know where was this POW camp?
Thank you in advance
The camp that Friedric Boeining was a POW at was South of Stalingrad , i have the name i just cannot recall it at the moment !!
