Great letter from an Iconic date in time!
    Paul,
I like the personal touch of listing his family and then the soldiers.
What do you think the dates after the soldier's names signify?

Thank you both for sharing them.

Cheers Phil...I've pondered that question many times ! I figured that the owner must have been a US serviceman (Mom & Pop), not really english terms, the dates pertaining to these are probably birthday reminders (no years here), the references to the soldiers, Sgt Vanderwall I thought, may have been a date of a wound, but then the latter 3 dates are 'just' post hostilities, maybe they're related to the soldiers (buddies) leaving the unit ? I got this about 21 years ago, it seemed to have lived it's life tucked & folded away !
    Regards
    Paul

Thanks for your thoughts on it Paul.
Yeah that Mom and Pop is most certainly a US soldier.

I remember the day I found my grandfather's Eisenhower D-Day Letter. I was stoked! He had the D-Day Letter, then another letter set up in a similar format, but written by Eisenhower about the end of the war. Those are two of my most prized possessions from my grandfather and in my collection.

I came across my grandfather's two Eisenhower Letters today. Took a picture of each so I could show-and-tell!

    D-Day Letter:

    End-Of-War Letter:

    Eisenhower D-Day Letter

Like I said, these are two of my most prized possessions since they belonged to my grandfather.
