Can anyone comment on this? There appears to be some information available on the net, but not a whole lot. I've seen a few on ebay.
Please comment on the overall condition.... thoughts?

Condition wise, it is very good, and the scabbard is extremely clean - better than
most I've seen with these knives. They are a 'copy' of the WWII Cattaraugus
'Q-225' Quartermasters knife. Manufactured somewhat cheaper by pressing
the leather washers in place and putting a ring through the tang to hold
them in place, as opposed to peening or staking the pommel.
I think they were 'Private Purchase' knives.
The 'bottle opener' where the blade edge meets the ricasso
seems odd. Normally they are more curved to
hook onto a bottle..

From others I've seen the can opening tang is broken on this one. Is it rare? Any idea what an auction might bring?
No, not rare. They usually go for $50 to $100 or so depending on
quality/condition. There are a few on E-bay at any given time,
which will give you a fairly broad price range.

Steve.
