Further to the WWI Gordon Highlanders Sgian Dubh that I posted here; Gordon Highlanders Sgian Dubh

This one is much further along the time line and is hallmarked for Edinburgh 1980 and the maker Thomas Ebutt.

So, it is much closer to the amalgamation into the Royal Regiment of Scotland but the quality is still higher than that of the current RRS items.

There are slight differences in dimensions from the earlier item with the whole piece appearing more slender than previous examples and the blade is stainless steel by this date. The bog oak handle is still hand carved though the pommel stone has the hue of a generic Citrine rather than the darker shade of a geographically specific "Cairngorm".

Note the hallmark on the chape comprises only the silver standard and city stamps with no date letter.
