I have the chance at the 'jungle carbine' so guess I'll try an buy it.

The bayo is not a 'Jungle Carbine' type-it's the No.9 bayo post WW2 for the No,4 rifle-will not fit on the No.5 rifle (the 'JC').
Then you maybe should amend the location under your avatar, as it currently says UK
(Kidding. I think, I know what you mean)
You dont need back-up The Smelly is without a shadow of a doubt a fine engineering feat.
I like the rifle very much. A well made and to me a beautiful rifle.
A fine rifle in its own right. The unmistakable profile will for ever spell British military might in my mind.
How ever (should one play devils advocate), that does not change the fact, that the bolt action system, that rules supreme today, is the Mauser system - not the Smelly.
From a sporting/hunting rifle POV - the Mauser, that pinnacle or rather the epitome of bolt action weapons, is hard to beat.
I still like them both though
So the JC probably has a 'kick' that keeps it from being funto shoot.
