    Seems he prefered to wear a French helmet during his time on the western front.
    Ever the showman I suspect he was cultivating his "individual" image just like his white "Siren suit" in WWII

    He was voted the No1 Greatest Briton of all time by the British Public not a bunch of politicians or public school peers remember!

    Let the woke generation cancel that

    He was a man of his time and we have more to thank him for than to criticise him

    Indeed Mark. The "woke" people of today invoke the principle of presentism, which is the practice of holding people of past societies up to the standards of today and then canceling them if not found perfect by today's standards.

    Many don't know that Churchill attended Sandhurst and saw combat in India and in the Boer War. The "siren suit" was famous, but he also dressed often as an Air Commodore.

    Following Churchill's resignation from cabinet after the Dardanelles disaster, he went on to serve as an officer in the trenches on the Western Front until early 1916. His choice of the Adrian helmet as his head protection was probably more to do with the fact it was the only readily available helmet at the time.

    In keeping with the young Winston theme, a photo from the 1890's. Is that a suggestion of a moustache (or maybe a mustache) on his upper lip? If so, it doesn't measure up to his fathers standard.

    And before anyone asks (everyone is wondering right? ) the cap badge is that of the South African Light Horse (SALH) and was worn during the 2nd Boer War;
