"I thought that the drivers position of a Tiger, had a seat that was adjustable up and down?"

    Not with a Tiger...

The chap with his head out, is sitting on the inside sponson (the part of the hull that covers the wheels).

The position of the drivers and radio operators hatch were positioned so they wouldn't foul the turret.

So, if the driver looked directly up, he would see the inside hull roof and not daylight..

The hatch opening would be back and over to his left.

Look at the position of the hatch opening and the drivers vision port.

You couldn't reach the controls and and look out of the hatch.
