Many countries have used old tanks as static defences along coasts or disputed borders, either as actual fighting positions or as decoys to attract fire-these 2 are wartime built T34/85s-you can tell from the position of the 2 turret ventilators fitted side by side at the rear of the turret top-last 'combat use' of the Panzer Mk IVJs were as static defences along the then Syrian Golan Heights in 1967-also there's a thread here describing old German AFVs dug in along the old Turkish-Warsaw Pact border, now being recovered as a treasure trove of parts and hulls for restoration. I would imagine the old Yemeni tanks were abandoned as actual defences some time ago but were simply left there to rot as removing them was not economic even for scrap,
