    Hi Guys,

Picked up a M6 tank periscope recently.
No serial number inscribed so probably never used?
Not sure if it's WWII era or not? No date, plus it's in very good condition.

Can it be opened up? Will it have a date inside?

Glass is a bit dirty, but otherwise nice clear viewing through it. No cracks.

    Thanks,

    Danger

The M6 is a very common periscope for US armored vehicles during WWII and into the Korean War. I think it’s original due to the brass data placard. Not exactly sure if they were dated. I don’t believe there is anything inside since I don’t think it magnifies the view. It is simply two angles mirrors on the top and bottom so you can see out of a closed hatch. You can rotate the two circular latches in the side to release the top and bottom prisms. Looks to be in great shape like you said probably never issued.

The twist latches are for quick release for replacement lenses I do have one somewhere.

Found it awhile ago and took some newer pics.
