I like Tamiya, but for simple value for money and excellent detail, in 1:72 and 1:35, I must say Dragon is certainly a contender.

It's about 15 years or more since I last made a model, can't find the time for it any more and the old eyes ain't what they used to be so I'd struggle big time to actually make one right if I did find time anyhow!
Back in the days when I did make 'em I nearly always bought Tamiya or Dragon 1/35 scale armour. I found Tamiya and Dragon were usually pretty good value for money and you could get a half decent model by making them straight out of the box, or if you wanted you could spend a bit more on PE etc and you could tart them up nicely. The other plus was being a plastic kit they were easy enough to make, I tried some of the more expensive resin stuff and I just couldn't get on with it for some reason, so I stuck with the plastic kits.
