You’re most welcome Mr. Sever. I’d say at $50 you did not over pay. Replacement ribbons are available, and you may want to invest in one to complete this cross. What size is the cross - 42 or 53mm?

    Regards,
    Tony

Thank you Mr. Tony. The cross is 53 mm (Officer cross) and I already found and bought from Ebay a ribbon with the characteristic rosette in order to complete the item. Once I might even find a Knight cross, as I already have also the commander (a French version - which I presented here some time ago). For the Knight I would look for a genuine Polish manufacture in order to complete at least part of the set as I do not have the resources to buy the first two classes of the order
    Best regards
    Sever

Hello to all on this excellent forum (I do not write much here but always read and learn with great pleasure).
Thanks to the informations just above, I have learn that the Polonia Restituta that is on my shelf for some 20-25 years, is very likely a Spink from the UK, well post-war (yellowed enamel). It appears to be Commander’s cross (I assume by the the loop), no ribbon, the cross itself is 60 mm large, the circle with the eagle is 20 mm large. The shape of the eagle itself is so different from Polish PRs and distinctive, it has a lot of "feathers" instead of being all-white inside.
Post war may be, but does not even feel like cheap imitation, it is heavy, and seems correctly made. Did my best for the photos, but my Sanyo camera is from 2006 and a little tired. GREAT THANKS to all helping with informations in this thread and on this forum!

PS. During the WW2, my grandfather was awarded 5th class Knignt’s cross Polonia Restituta, later Officer’s, by the government in exile, but nothing to do with this cross. For this one, I can not recall how it got to me. Anyway…

Hello Gazal, yes, a Commander's Cross made by Spink. The yellowing synthetic enamel dates this to post 1970 production. Thanks for sharing
