The Knedler fakes can be quite deceptive and easily taken as being genuine. The telltale sign to look for with the large Knedler copies is the lack of wear on the edges and high points of the text. Originals are stamped brass with a silver wash, and this plating wears off and shows the brass substrate. Not so with the copies cast in white pot metal.

Thanks Tony,the one I found out was fake was made out of white metal.
Here's a current auction with a repro Knedler spinner. I'm not altogether sold on the badge either, despite the seller's blanket statement "original".

Polish copies are getting alot better with all the fake numbering and hall marks addedI would pass on it, it looks too new and has no patina

I know this is quite an old thread but I recently acquired J Pendowski 14th artillery badges. The spinners, both Pendowski, but of different design.
