I picked up this tunic a while ago and was told it was a prison remake. I am very doubtful. The cloth is old with some moth damage, but there is hook and eye on the neck. The buttons are Bron Lodz, and it is well-made. Any thoughts?

Hello!
I'm sure that it's not polish pre war uniform. Maybe it's some kind of Armia Wojska Polskiego uniform? It can be also prison made of course.
Best Regards
It also might of been made by a member of the Polish resistance, I seen such tunics with the same pocket style in resistance photos, Ill try posting them
Nice interesting piece
Yes, and when they made their own uniforms they usually used designs of German uniforms or Polish pre-war uniforms.
The material for the collar appears to be German (In my opinion)

I have not seen a prewar jacket in this excellent condtion before!

Thats a beautiful example, Ive never seen one like it!
Too bad it does not belong to some famous cavalry regiment. The hole for the badge could have been made much later. The tailors usually finished the hole to prevent tears.
who really cares about the hole in the pocket anyway?
That's like someone gazing at a priceless Rembrandt and saying "The frame looks a little bit too thick".
