I never knew they had their own Clown troops
Cheers, Ade,
I didnt know the village people had a Polish soldier in the band.
Thats exacly what makes it so rare.It was used not only by the rare clown troops but also by the village soldier bands,The information of these 2 units was detroyed when the Germans took over as they wanted to erase the history of such a elite unit.Im not letting this hat pass away
My favorite is the description that was posted with it on eBay:
"Polish Army Hat with 6 stars. This hat was purchased over in Poland in the early 80's and I was told it was from WW2. No promises on whether it is actually from the 40's It is in excellent shape with no tears, rips or damage. High quality construction with a adjustable leather chin strap."
This has all the usual hallmarks... "I was told" (the equivalent of "I'm not the expert"), and "no promises", (which speaks for itself). Reminds me of one of our other favorite eBay sellers who has been referenced on this forum.
Hmm I wonder whos that
Come on he says he got it in the 80`s everyone in the communist era knew that pre-war Polish items would have a crowned eagle and to top it off it was the 80`s *COUGH* Solidarity....
I see nobody's bid on it yet. Maybe I will - NOT.
I guess he has a sense of humour.... Who else would buy a visor cap with Prince of Wales Check.
Even I wouldnt fall for this hat, and I know absolutely NOTHING about WW2 Polish head-dress, other than Double headed eagle and grey berets for airborne!
But I do know of a farmer who may be interested in it....................................for one of his scarecrows!
Haha
I think Ill beat all you guys and place a 100 dollar bid on such a rare cap,Poland`s elitest troops wore these hats
If I find $17 laying on the street its going towards this !
