Hello all,
I just missed out on a 1st Armoured Divison, 8th Rifle Battalion badge on UK EBay. Always on the lookout for one as we have father-in-law's Legitymacja, but no badge. Put me out of my misery, was it a real, period one I should have gone more for, or a copy / reproduction? (I've picked up a low-cost, similar, known-to-be-a-copy one with no writing on the back to display with his medals, but the Niemcy, 1946 and number on this one caught my eye.)
Why was it so different to the one in Ze-Pole's post in another thread though ... Polish items from 1rst polish armoured division to exchange (or is that one just duller)
Also, on our Legitymacja, which number would be on the badge? The top-right one, or the one in the text with the /46 (which are different)? Sorry about the blurring - didn't want to see it for sale on EBay!?
Thanks
AndyL

Hi Andy, good news for you is that the badge you missed out on is a fake. Albeit a deceptive one thanks to the text on the reverse. Attached below are images I saved of another of these #833 fakes that sold a dozen or so years ago. The spinner is also fake.
The badge number that appears on the reverse is the number is marked on the top right of the legitymacja. The number with the /46 suffix is the official "daily order" number that authorized the awarding of this badge. Best wishes in your hunt for a good badge.
Regards,
Tony
