I’m asking for a bit of help again, I bought these a year ago, I believe they are Egyptian (1950s) but so far have not been able to definitively confirm it. While I was looking to identify the Lance Sergeant slides I came across examples of bullion Polish officers’ slides with a similar construction, so there is a chance my initial opinion is wrong.

Thanks, odd that I've ended up with two sets of Polish rank slides without looking for them. Both came for Israel where I know a proportion of the Polish Exile army chose to stay.

    Hello Everyone,

The cup for winning the 100 meter race during the 2nd Corps sports competition in Ancona in October 1945 recently auctioned for 600 PLN:

The final of the 100 m race from Ancona in 1945, but the date of the race is according to the source of the photo (IPMS) 26.10, not 29.10.

Whether the genuity raises your doubts?

Hello all. I picked this up on ebay for cheap, figured it was worth taking a shot, even if not real I could use it for display or reenacting. The uniform seems to have been worn as it is not brand new and still has sweat stains and dirty/dusty. The buttons are the post war non crown eagles. Not sure what to make of it. From a distance it looks fine and i can use it for reenacting.

It looks like a cavalry collar tab was sewn on at one point but removed.

I went through the pockets and found this yellow felt chevron. Any idea? The name on the back of the chevron matches the name on the coat.

Inside jacket the soldiers name. looks like Kurowski, and i think the 13 (i?) is his number. It might have belonged to Kurowski, Władysław Józef who was a Lieutenant of the Carpathian Ulyman Regiment >> Profile

ribbons are definitely new, looks to have been crudely cut and then sewn onto a white plastic bar.

    Hello Windedsloth,

Many thanks for your post, Władysław Józef Kurowski was a Podporucznik (2nd Lieutenant (1 star only on Epaulette)). I have also rotated some of your photographs for you :

You are correct in stating that the ribbon bar is rather cobbled together, both the Africa Star and 1939-1945 Star Ribbons are incorrectly arranged and are back to front, also the Rank stars look too American.

The sewing is very poor not what you would expect from a tailor. the collar seems to have had a pennon sewed to the left side is there the same imprint on the right collar side can not make out from the photographs.

Also missing the 8th Army badge from the right sleeve.

Apologies for being the bearer of bad news to you Windedsloth, it is always wise to ask on the forum for members opinions before buying.

    Best wishes

    Andrzej
